"I covered my eyes and waited for the worst."

"Our Honey came to us by accident; I mean that literally. This poor girl ran out in front of us on our way home from work. It was the most awful moment; I covered my eyes and waited for the worst. I felt the bump, opened my eyes, got out of our vehicle, and ran to her! She was shocked and lying in the street. However, when our eyes met, there was this connection unlike any I had felt before.

I told my husband to help me load her in the vehicle, and we drove to the closest vet, just to be told they could not see her. I begged someone to at least tell me if she had a chip! I got a super sweet girl to come out and scan her; she did take a look at her and said she was in shock and looked like she had been roaming the desert for a while and looked a bit malnourished. She even offered to take her home, and she would take care of her. We told her we would take her and make sure she was okay and try to locate her home.

So we went to the store and bought the biggest dog crate they had, a pet bed, dog food, dishes, and proceeded to take her home, put her in the crate, which only lasted an hour. She was so sweet and just laid there. We felt so bad we had to let her out. We took her outside to go potty and brought her back in, took the bed out of the crate, and added a blanket to keep her comfy and warm. She slept all night at the end of our bed. We could not believe how good she was, never cried or barked all night.

The next morning we took her to work with us to have her close and make sure she was okay. She stayed right next to my desk and followed me all day. We noticed how she wouldn’t let me out of her sight, even when I went to the bathroom. She would gently claw at the door and sit there until I came out.

We tried to locate her home by searching the lost dog forum on Facebook, Craigslist, the animal shelters, and even driving around to see if anyone had put signs up in the neighborhoods.

In the meantime, we needed to give her a name, so we decided to call her Honey because she has the prettiest honey-colored eyes and fur, as well as having the sweetest personality.

She came to us unexpectedly with no family to be found; she needed a home, and we opened ours. She has become the family member we did not know we were missing. We could never have chosen a girl as good as her; someone must have spent a lot of time and attention on her. She is so gentle but alert to everything going on around her, very well-behaved, and loyal as she could be."
